The death of Miss Janette J. Duff, 76, occurred early Thursday morning, July 04, at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Kunzman, with whom she had made her home. She had been in failing health for some time.
Miss Duff was born February 17, 1870 and grew to womanhood in this community. During her childhood, she lost her eyesight, due to an injury. Later, she attended the Vinton school for the blind. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist and taught piano lessons for a number of years.
Surviving are two sisters and three brothers: Mrs. George (Isabel) Kunzman, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Arthur (Mary) Kunzman, John, Robert and Albert Duff, all of Volga City, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents and sister Mrs. Wm. (Mamie) Glasgow of Garden City, Kan., preceded her in death.
The funeral service was held Saturday at 2 p.m., at the Presbyterian church. The Rev. Paul F. Zoschke, Baptist minister of Elgin, was in charge. Mr. C. W. Kohls and Mrs. Leo Grether sang two duets during the services, accompanied by Mrs. Kohls at the piano.
Casket bearers were: David Dempster, William Dempster, Cheslie Squires, Arlington; William Pollock, Elgin; William V. Probert, Wadena and William R. Smith, Volga.

Honorary pallbearers were John P. Duff, Robert W. Duff, Albert Duff, Cecil W. Duff, Wm. G. Kunzman and Albert Kunzman.
Interment was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.
