Christopher Wentz, son of Christopher and Margaret Roswag Wentz, was born December 4, 1867, on a farm in the Elkport vicinity.
He passed away August 4, 1961, at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital at Manchester after a short illness. He had reached the age of 93 years and 8 months.
He grew up in the Elkport vicinity and lived his entire life on the farm on which he was born. He was united in marriage to Minnie Kraus on November 8, 1893 at Elkader, Iowa. To this union, six children were born.
He was preceded in death by: his wife Minnie, on January 26, 1943 and 3 sisters.
He is survived by: 5 daughters, Mrs Levi ( Catherine) Phelps of Cassville, Wis., Mrs Helmuth ( Anna ) Latteyer of Elkader, Iowa; Mrs Laurence ( Freda ) Muller of Elkport; Mrs Theodore ( Wilma ) Grapes of Cedar Rapids and one son, Laurence of Luana, also 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.
Services were held on Monday, August 7th by Rev. Murlin Hansel at the Appleton Funeral Home in Edgewood.
Casket bearers were: Albert and Arthur Jaster, Arno Gottschalk, Harold Conley, Ed Lundt and Donald Kraus with internment in the Communia Cemetery.
