Funeral services for Mrs. John Bahr, 71, were held from the home at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon to the Witt Funeral chapel at 2 p.m. The Rev. Herbert Kelly officiated, following which Charity Chapter No. 152 O.E.S. conducted the funeral services of the O.E.S. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Mrs. Bahr suffered a heart attack at 5:45 Thursday and died at her home in Elkader early Friday morning, May 17.

Katherine Caroline Bahr was born at Elkader on May 29, 1874. The daughter of Gottlieb and Julia Wertley, she was baptized in infancy and confirmed by the Rev. C. H. Franke April 04, 1909. She received her education in the Elkader public school.

On March 11, 1893 she was married to John Bahr. Her entire life was spent in Elkader with the exception of one winter which she spent with her husband and her son in Sac City, Wis., where both men were employed in defense work.

Mrs. Bahr was a faithful worker in the Evangelical church where she was a Sunday school worker for 23 years. She was a charter member of the Frauen Verein and Dorcas Society of the church. She was a member of Charity Chapter No. 152, O.E.S. of Elkader and served as worthy matron for a number of years. She was also a member of White Shrine, McGregor, and Caldrons of Dubuque.

She is survived by her husband and one son, Harry, who is employed in Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John, and a daughter who died in infancy.

Pall bearers were: Louis Kruse, Wm. Ehrhardt, Harry Refle, John Stemmer, Fred Heiden r. and Carl Kruse.
