Clayton County Register, 16 May 1946.

Funeral services for George C. Ortman, 59, will be held at the home three miles south of Littleport at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, May 16. The Rev. Paul Kitterer of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church will officiate. Burial will be in the Union cemetery at Littleport.

Mr. Ortman died at his home about 11:30 Monday evening following a three weeks' illness.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Lloyd and Glen; two brothers: William Ortman of Elkader, and Carl Ortman of Littleport; three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Lange of Strawberry Point, Mrs. E. L. Gifford of Dubuque, and Mrs. Edna Burns, Hopkinton; and two grandchildren: John and James Ortman.
