Funeral services for Miss Gesiene Gerdes were held at the Witt funeral chapel at 1 o'clock Thursday, May 02, The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Gesiene Gerdes was born in Horsten, Germany, Feb. 04, 1880, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gerdes. She came to America with her family when a small child. Her father left Elkader in April 1906 after the death of the mother.

Miss Gerdes died at Glenwood, Iowa, April 30 having been a resident of that place since 1906. She was the last of a family of seven girls and three boys.
