Anna C. Ewing, wife of William M. Ewing, died April 18, 1946, at her home near Volga City.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Carmichael, born in Fayette county, August 02, 1886 and received her education in the rural schools and Teachers seminary at West Union, then taught for some years. Her marriage to William M. Ewing occurred at West Union, March 12, 1891. Two daughters and a son were born to them: Mrs. C. A. Briar of Monona, and Miss Cecile Ruth, of South Beloit, Ill., a son Clifton preceded her in death at the age of eleven.
Survivors are her husband, two daughters and four grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Nelle Phelps of Strawberry Point and Mrs. Etta Robinson of Blooming Prairie, Minn., and one brother, Henry Carmichael of Wadena.
In early life she united with the Methodist church and on Feb. 27, 1895, she united with the Volga Methodist church by letter, under the pastorate of the Rev. L. S. Cooley.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church with the Rev. J. Clifton Lee, pastor in charge.
Casket bearers were: W. E. Chase, W. M. Hoskyn, George Oldfather, H. O. Probert, E. T. Smith, and H. E. Whitford. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.
Among those from out of town who were present at the funeral were: Mrs. Joe Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Robinson, Mrs. Clifton Myers, Blooming Prairie, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Briar and family, Monona; Miss Cecile Ewing, South Beloit, Ill.; Fred Smith, Sterling, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Baumgartner, Waverly; Mrs. Nelle Phelps, Strawberry Point; Henry Carmichael, Wadena; Mr. and Mrs. Len Hummel, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Chase, Fayette; Mrs. Guy Whitford, West Union; Mrs. L. H. Appleman, Clermont; Mrs. John Sprague, Arlington
