GARBER: Mrs. Louisa Amsden, daughter of Henry and Caroline Brase, died at her home near Garber on Monday, April 15, of a heart ailment.
She reached the age of 82 years, 1 month and 22 days. She was born February 16, 1864, at Hanover, Germany. When a babe of 3 months she with her parents came to the United States and since came to Guttenberg. Clayton county has been her home ever since.
On March 20, 1883 she was married to Whitney Amsden who preceded her in death 9 years ago April 22. Survivors are 2 daughters and 5 sons, namely: Mrs. Mary Wenkstern and Peter of Edgewood, Fred of Garber, Wm. L. of Dubuque, Ben of Greeley, Mildred ( Mrs. Ervin Schaal) of Manchester, and Edward at home; 26 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. S. E. Birkner of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church, Thursday p.m. at 2 o'clock, at the home. Burial was made in Mount Harmony cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Robert Hansel, Doyle Oldham, Delbert Rentschler, Morris Bowman, John Kulper and Jim Noggle.
