The Rev. Miley Locke Dilley who, with his wife, had made his home in Elkader for more than five years died Thursday, April 23 after an extended illness.
The Rev. Dilley, a Baptist minister, is the father of Mrs. F. A. Hickman of this city. A son, Lorenz D. Dilley lives in Fontana, Calif. Since his retirement and during his years of declining health he spent the greater share of his time about his daughter's home following his hobbies of gardening and handcraft.
During his twenty-five years of ministry, the Rev. Dilley served churches in Rockwell City, Jefferson, Anamosa and Missouri Valley, Iowa, besides holding a pastorate for a short time in Nebraska.
He was a member of the Iowa Baptist State board and served on the executive board of the Iowa Baptist assembly for a number of years. His family and relatives will attend private funeral services to be held from his daughter's home Saturday morning, April 27, at 11:00.
The Rev. S. A. Jones, Baptist minister of Independence will present devotions. Interment will be at the East Side cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Lyle Webster, A. L. Davidsaver, Raymond Jipson, F. E. Sharp, Coe Braden and J. H. Hickman.
Friends and neighbors are invited to call at his daughter's home Friday afternoon or evening.
