Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Marie Kainz, who died of a heart attack at her home east of Elkader Feb. 21, 1946, were held at St. Joseph's church in Elkader Monday morning Feb. 25. The Rev. Father E. A. Fitzgerald officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Stella Marie Berns was born in Garnavillo, Dec. 27, 1886, the daughter of Peter and Clara Berns.

On Nov. 27, 1907, she was married to Frank Kainz at Elkport. She was a member of St. Joseph's church in Elkader and had lived in Clayton county all her life.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters; Mrs. Seymour Wilson of Garber, and Vera, at home; also two sisters: Mrs. J. H. Thein, Elkport; Mrs. Leonard LaBarre, of Clayton; and one brother, Otto Berns of Garber. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Ben Berns, of Garber, on Oct. 12, 1937.

Pallbearers were her nephews: James Berns, Marvin Kainz, Hubert Thein, Rudy Kainz, Lawrence Thein and Earl LaBarre.

Among those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Karl Kainz of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. John Kainz and Ernest, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Becker and family, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Goedken and two daughters, all of Dyersville; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kainz and Rose Kainz, of Guttenberg; and numerous other relatives and friends from Strawberry Point, Clayton and Garnavillo.
