Charles C. Moss, 67, of Clayton was killed Friday, Aug. 04, when the automobile he was driving left the road and rolled over several times in the ditch to the right of the road.

The accident occurred at about 3:15 on the airport road about a mile east of Elkader. Moss was the only occupant of the car.

Coroner E. W. Tuecke ascribed the death to a broken neck suffered in the accident. No inquest will be held.

Formerly of Cedar Rapids, Moss moved to Clayton some time ago. Mrs. Moss operates Ma's cafe in Clayton.

Moss, a carpenter, was driving a 1939 Master Chevrolet coupe to the airport to do some work at the Airport Inn operated by his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wood. Wheel marks on the road show that his car left the road, skidded and rolled about 60 feet before it came to rest on its side.
Moss was found dead in the overturned car by his grandson, Dick Wood, Elkader. Wood notified authorities.

The body was taken to the Witt funeral home here and was transferred to a funeral home in Cedar Rapids. Burial was in Cedar Rapids.

The accident was investigated by Emory Galloway, highway patrolman, and Deputy Sheriff Milton Klink.
