ST. OLAF: Mary Orvis, daughter of Thomas and Christina Embretson, was born Sept. 14, 1872, on a farm one mile east of St. Olaf, and died on Thursday, April 06, 1950.
Mrs. Orvis was one of nine children, she was a life-long member of the Norway church where she was baptized and confirmed.
She also was a member of the church choir and the Ladies Aid and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
On Feb. 05, 1893, she was united in marriage to Fred Orvis of St. Olaf, where they have lived up to the time of her death.
Mary Orvis is survived by her husband, Fred Orvis; one son, Floyd, of St. Olaf; two daughters, Mrs. Vivian Larson, of St. Olaf and Mrs. Allison DeBuhr of Rockford. Also two brothers, Theo. and Henry Embretson of St. Olaf, and one sister, Caroline Christenson of St. Olaf, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who mourn her death together with many other relatives and friends.
