Funeral services for Mrs. George Ehrhardt were held from the Witt funeral chapel at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday, April 19, to the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.
Mrs. Ehrhardt died at her home in Elkader Sunday afternoon, April 16, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and five days. She had been in ill health for several months. Death was due to a heart condition.
Louise Rohn, daughter of Christian and Caroline Stade Rohn, was born on a farm in Read township May 11, 1878. She was christened and confirmed by the late Rev. F. W. Seifert at the Zion Lutheran church in Clayton Center March 22, 1891. She received her education in the schools near her home.
On Jan. 14, 1897, in Boardman township, she was married to George Ehrhardt. They started housekeeping on the Mayville farm in Cox Creek township. Four years later they moved to a farm in Boardman township, where they lived until 1903, when they moved to Elkader, which has been their home for the past 47 years.
In 1947 Mr. and Mrs. Ehrhardt were privileged to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Ehrhardt was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church and a charter member of the Women's Guild of that church. Also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
She is survived by her husband and four sons: Louis H., Albert Lea, Minn.; Earl O., Elmhurst, Ill.; Alvin J. and Leroy J., both of Elkader. Also eight grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a son, Irving, who died in infancy.
Pallbearers were H. L. Meyer, N. H. Niemeyer, L. J. Palas, Geo. Taake, Geo. Kelpien, and Charles Meder.
