Mrs. Herman E. Weiss, 55, died at Finley hospital, Dubuque, Dec. 12, after a two months' illness. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church at Garnavillo, Monday afternoon, with the Rev. D. A. Flesner of Clayton Center officiating.
Charlotte Marie Ihde, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Ihde, was born Nov. 21, 1887, in Read township. She was confirmed in St. Paul's church at Garnavillo, April 15, 1900, by the Rev. F. Sommerlad. April 21, 1909, she was married at the home of her parents to Herman E. Weiss. The couple established a home in Garnavillo where they lived for many years. Several years ago the family moved to a farm west of Elkader.
Mrs. Weiss is survived by her husband, three sons, Robert, a first class private in the 113th cavalry, Camp Hood, Texas, Waldemar and Herbert on the farm; one daughter, Hildegard, Mrs. Foster Koth, and one granddaughter, Karon Kay Koth, both of near Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Caroline Kurdelmeyer of Elkader, Mrs. Elizabeth Kurdelmeyer of Monona and Mrs. Merle Stocks of Garnavillo; two brothers, Ben and John, of Garnavillo. Her parents, two sisters and one brother, preceded her in death.
