Mrs. Gunder Rugland, 81, died at her home in Wagner township, Dec. 09, after a several months' illness. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Norway church with the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery with the following acting as pallbearers: Theodore Wold, Milton Monlux, Philemon Peterson, Willie Bergan, Vernon Trudo and Millard Olson. Miss Arlene Hanson and Miss Rachel Wold had charge of the flowers.
Ingeborg Johnson, daughter of Fingar and Ingrid Olson Johnson, was born on July 19, 1861 on the same farm on which she died. She was the last of the Fingar Johnson family.
Mrs. Rugland was baptized and confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church. In her early years she attended the public and parochial schools of the county. Oct. 12, 1888, she was married to Gunder Rugland. They made their home in O'Brien county, Iowa, for a few years. They then moved back to the home farm in Wagner township, where they since resided. In 1938 the Ruglands observed their golden wedding anniversary.
Besides her husband, three sons, Fred on the home farm, John, also of Wagner township, and Vernon of St. Olaf, and one daughter, Alma, Mrs. Perry Benson, of near St. Olaf, survive. Six grandchildren also survive. They are Walter Rugland of the Coast Guard at Tacoma, Wash., Ervin, Elizabeth, Helen Jean and Carroll Rugland and Ruth Benson. Two daughters and one son preceded the mother in death.
Mrs. Rugland was an active member of the Bergen Ladies' Aid.
