Mrs. Mary Miles, 80, died at her home in Littleport, Oct. 20, 1942, after an illness of more than two years. She was born Aug. 01, 1862 in Clayton conty, the daughter of David and Susanna Bachtell. She was married to F. M. Miles Sept. 27, 1883 at the home of her parents near Elkader.
She is survived by her aged husband, two sons, Claud of Volga City and Valmah of Milledgville, Ill.; six daughters, Hattie and Pearl Nading of Littleport, Edna Dunn of Strawberry Point, Florence Harkin of Savannah, Ill., Gertrude DeBow of Fayette and Margaret Smith of Charles City; also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One daughter, Ora, Mrs. Wesley Marshall preceded her in death.
Mrs. Miles was a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services were held at the home in Littleport, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was at Strawberry Point.
