Funeral services were held last Wednesday for Marie Karolina Lucia Bahr, 68, who died Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. Pastor A. F. Goetzlaff conducted the services at the Lutheran church at Elkport at 2 o'clock. The Garnavillo choir sang several hymns. Burial took place in the Lutheran cemetery at Elkport with four of the nephews, Leroy, Julius and Carroll Witmann and Walter L. Saur, Jr., and cousins Henry Schnepf and A. D. Roggman as the pall bearers.
Miss Bahr was the eldest daughter of Peter Bahr and Sophia Mueller Bahr and was born Aug. 01, 1874 in Elkport. Aug. 24 of the same year she was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran Emmanuel's church at Elkport by Pastor Johannes Vollmar and she was confirmed in the same church March 18, 1888 by Rev. J. C. F. Brauer.
Miss Bahr attended the public schools in Elkport and later followed the profession of seamstress. For about 12 years she has had charge of the Bell Telephone exchange at Elkport. Since 1921 she has been official registrar of births and deaths for Volga and Elk townships. She was at one time church organist and for many years sang in the church choir.
Miss Bahr is survived by one brother, John Bahr of Elkader; five sisters, Lena, at present a patient in the Dr. Nichols' sanitorium at Savannah, Mo., Mrs. Sophia Smith and Mrs. Clara Wittman of Elkport and Mrs. Elsa Hauschen of Clayton; six nephews, Leroy, Julius and Carroll Wittman, Harry Bahr, Julius Hauschen and Walter Saur, Jr.
