Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Reka Gottschalk were held Monday afternoon at the Evangelical church with Rev. P. Kitterer officiating. She died at her home in Volga township last Friday.
Mrs. Gottschalk was the daughter of Carl and Augusta Knuth and was born Dec. 25, 1876 in Read township. She spent her entire life in Clayton county. March 20, 1896, she was married to John Carl Gottschalk at St. Olaf, Iowa. The following year they moved to the farm in Volga township. They became the parents of seven children, four of whom survive, Arno of Communia, __da of Elkport, Hazel of Ventura, Calif., and Willis at home. Lucy, Elmer and Lena preceded their mother in death. Mrs. Gottschalk is also survived by her husband, one brother, Emil J. Knuth of Grand Meadow, Minn., and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Gottschalk had been in failing health for the past six years.
Burial was made at the East Side cemetery. Pallbearers were: Lorenz Gottschalk, Art Knuth, Bill Knuth, Ano Lenth, Lester Seeland and John Gottschalk.
