George Schram, 79, passed away Saturday morning, March 14, at 5 o'clock in the county home near Elkader, following a lingering illness. His body was brought to the Gill Funeral Home of this place. The service was held Monday afternoon at the home and burial was in the cemetery of the home. He was born Aug. 04, 1863, in Germany, the son of George and Margaret (Fischer) Schram. When 22 years of age he came with a brother and sister to the United States and came to the home of his cousin, George Otdoerfer in the St. Sebald community near Strawberry Point. He never married. Farming was his occupation and he spent most his life in the St. Sebald community and Fayette communities. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Joe (Kuny) Fink of Strawberry Point, two brothers and one sister in Germany. One brother, John, preceded him in death in New York State. Several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends also survive.
