Funeral services for Lester R. Litts were held at the Gill Chapel Wednesday afternoon conducted by the Rev. Vernon Benson, pastor of the Congregational church. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery. The casket bearers were Earl Nichols, Charles Baumgartner, Henry Kamoss, James Alderson, Frank Burke and Ray Shriver.
As a son of James and Carrie E. Truair Litts, he was born at Independence on April 24, 1873, and died Sunday morning at his home after a year's illness. He was married to Miss Florence Manley of Lamont on Nov. 10, 1900. The home has been made in and around here most of the time. For awhile he was buttermaker at Massilon. Returning here he followed his profession as a painter and paper hanger until ill health forced him to retire. Surviving besides his wife are the following children: Ralph, Mrs. Gerd (Edith) Bunting and Mrs. Herman (Harriet) Bloomberg, all of Strawberry Point, Miss Anna Lois Litts at home, Avery and James of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Frank (Sara Belle) Thompson of Yorkville, Ill., and Mrs. Edward (Viola) Mohr of Lost Nation, also fourteen grandchildren.
