Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Aschbrenner, 66, were held Monday, November 27, from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sumner at 10 o'clock to Peace United Church in Elkader at 1:30 o'clock. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery in Elkader.
Rev. Kamrath officiated at the service in Sumner and Rev. Alvin F. Volle conducted the final rites in Elkader. Mrs. Merlin Anderson sang "Jesus LIves" and "The Victory's Won" at the Elkader service. She was accompanied by Jean Welsh at the organ.
Mrs. Aschbrenner was suddenly stricken at her home in Sumner and died on Friday, Nov. 24.
Mrs. Aschbrenner was born on a Highland Township farm, west of Elkader, on April 13, 1901. She was a daughter of John and Lydia (Lindenbauer) Leuchtenmacher. She received her education in the public schools of the community and graduated from Elkader High School in 1920.
On December 1, 1926, she was united in marriage to Gust Olson in Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader. To this union were born three children, Eleanor, Lillian and Edward. Mr. Olson passed away on January 6, 1957.
On September 22, 1963, she was married to Arthur Aschbrenner of Sumner and moved to Sumner to make her future home.
In her girlhood Mrs. Aschbrenner became a member of the Highland Lutheran Church. In 1918 she became a member of the Peace United Church of Christ and was active in the Women's Fellowship and in the life of the Elkader Church. After she moved to Sumner she transferred her membership to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in that city.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Aschbrenner is survived by her three children, Mrs. Ray (Eleanor) MacTaggart, Fremont, Calif.; Mrs. Frederick (Lillian) Nold, Woodbourne, New York, and Edward W. Olson, Elkader; three brothers, John and George Leuchtenmacher, Elkader, and Roy Leuchtenmacher, Elgin. She also leaves three step-children, Ronald Aschbrenner, Cedar Falls; Milan Aschbrenner, Eldora, and Mrs. Dale Domke, Fredericksburg. There are seven grandchildren and 10 step=grandchildren.
Mrs. Aschbrenner was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip and Matthew Leuchtenmacher, and one sister, Dora Leuchtenmacher.
Casket bearers for the Sumner service were: Richard Schwake, Carl Westendorf, Edward Higgins, L.W. Pipho, Floyd Kafer and Karl Eisele. For the final rites at Elkader they were: Robert Bente, Leighton Bente, Robert Leuchtenmacher, Clifford Leuchtenmacher, Floyd Leuchtenmacher and Milo Murphy.
