Clayton Conty Register, 11 Oct. 1945.

Thomas West, son of William and Elizabeth West, was born in Clayton county, April 23, 1868. He died Sept. 24, 1945, at the age of 77 years, five months and one day.

On May 22, 1907, he was united in marriage to Anna Johnson. Three children were born to this union: two sons, Orville and Thomas Jr., of Elkader and a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Grimm of Chicago, Ill.

He spent most of his life on his farm west of Elkader. He died of a heart ailment and had been failing in health the past three years.

Burial was made, Sept. 26, at the Elkader cemetery.

Survivors are his widow, three children, five sisters, four brothers and seven grandchildren.
