Funeral services for William Huebner were held from his home in Elkader at 1:30 o'clock Thursday, Oct. 04, and from the Zion's Lutheran church in Clayton Center at 2 p.m. The Rev. Hackbarth officiated. Burial was in the Clayton Center cemetery.
Mr. Huebner has been in failing health for a number of years. His condition became worse three weeks ago and he was taken to a sanitarium in Dubuque where he died Sunday, Sept. 30, having reached the age of 69 years, six months.
William Carl Huebner, the son of the late Friederick and Wilhelmina Yahn Huebner, was born in Clayton Center, March 30, 1876. As an infant he was baptized into the Christian faith by the late Rev. F. Seifert, who also confirmed him on March 30, 1890, and who united him in marriage with Mary Possehl on Feb. 13, 1902. They started housekeeping on their farm in Boardman township where they lived until 1921 when they moved to a farm in Read township. In 1931 they retired and moved to Elkader which has since been their home.
Mr. Huebner was a member of Zion Lutheran chuch at Clayton Center.
Surviving are three daughters; Mrs. Hilda Lenth, of St. Olaf; Mrs. Hattie Huckstadt, Farmersburg; Mr. Helen Nydeggar, Elkader; and one son Arno Huebner of Garnavillo; also one sister Mrs. William Mueller, Guttenberg; and seven grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death on July 22, 1941, also one brother Henry, and a child who died in infancy.
Pallbearers were: Wm. Monlux, M. G. Garaghty, Fred Ihlenfeldt, Albert Breitsprecher, Chas. Gottschalk, and Wm. Freitag.
