Funeral services for Walter A. Sadewasser, 63, who died suddenly of a heart attack at his place of business about 6:30 o'clock Wednesday evening, were held from the Witt funeral chapel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and from the Frieden's Evangelical and Reformed church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was made in the Garnavillo cemetery at Garnavillo, Iowa.

Mr. Sadewasser seemed to be in his usual health and had been at his work in his general repair shop all day. Shortly before 6 p.m. he complained of a severe pain in his chest. A doctor was called but death came within the hour. Mr. and Mrs. Sadewasser and daughter, Mrs. Mildred Whiteaker had returned only on Monday from Minneapolis where they spent the Labor Day weekend with relatives.

Walter August Sadewasser, the son of August and Wilhelmina Sadewasser, was born Nov. 19, 1881, in Bant, north of Stettin, in Oldenburg, Germany. He came to America with his parents when one year old. They settled in Clayton county near Guttenberg, Iowa. The family had only been here nine days when the father died. Mr. Sadewasser also lived in Minneapolis for eleven years and also spent some time in California.

He was employed as a carpenter for a number of years and later operated the Elkader Dry Cleaning establishment and the past seventeen years the General Repair shop in Elkader.

He received his education in the rural schools of Clayton county. On June 07, 1908, he was confirmed in Salem Lutheran church in Minneapolis, Minn.

He was married to Miss Lena Reimer in a double-wedding service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. _oe Kuehl on Nov. 19, 1907, when their daughter Carrie Kuehl became the bride of Mrs. Sadewasser's brother, Chas. Reimer.

Mr. Sadewasser was a member of the Frieden's Evangelical and Reformed church of Elkader and served for a number of years on the church council.

Surviving are his wife, one son, Corporal William W. Sadewasser of Boca Raton, Fla., and one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Caroline Whiteaker of Elkader; four half-brothers, Ernest, Henry, William and Edward Winch, all of Guttenberg, and three half-sisters, Mrs. Selma Thein, Fayette, Iowa, Mrs. Magdalena Wittman, Olivia, Minn., and Mrs. Malinda Feidt, Garber, also the following step-sisters and brothers: Mrs. Katie Smelzer, Garnavillo, Iowa, Fred and Louis Winch, both of Littleport, Iowa; One grandchild, Sharon Lee Sadewasser.

Pallbearers were: Emil Gossman, Wm. Jacobs, Peter Thein, Vernon Diers, Fred Cook and Chas. Wagner.

Attending the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Selma Thein, Fayette, Iowa; Mrs. Emma Sadewasser, Mr. and Mrs. P. K. Rud, all of Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. Herman Sadewasser, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Duwe, all of Guttenberg, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morse of Centralia, Ill.; Mrs. Joe Costa and Joe, Jr., Mrs. Minnie Radloff and Emma Jean, Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Ruegnitz all of Dubuque, Iowa.
