George Henry Fox, son of Stephen and Mary Ann Fox, was born May 08, 1856 at Arlington. He was one of a family of nine children, four boys and five girls, all of whom have preceded him in death, except one sister, Clara Estella Fox of Quimby, Iowa.

He was married January 29, 1887, to Miss Clarissa Graves at West Albany, Fayette county, Iowa.

To Mr. and Mrs. Fox was born a son David and later, they adopted a son Archie.

During his early life, Mr. Fox lived near Arlington and for the past thirty-nine years resided in Volga. About six months ago, he and Mrs. Fox moved to Elkader, where he died on Sunday, August 19, at 3 a.m. at the age of 89 years.

Surviving are his wife and two sons, David of Oelwein and Archie of Volga, one sister, Miss Clara Estella Fox of Quimby, Iowa, also a number of nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Blake and Gill funeral chapel in Volga. Miss Clara Nelson was in charge of the service. Music was furnished by Mrs. R. W. Duff and Miss Celia J. Blake.

Casket bearers were: James Bergan, Ben Roys, Walter Everitt, Jesse Sloan, George Oldfather, and Ed Hayes.

Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga City.

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Doudney of Oelwein, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Beckman of Elkader, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cammack of Arlington attended the last rites.
