Funeral services for Erick G. Halverson, 84, lifelong resident of Clayton county, were held at the Witt Funeral chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 23, and at the Marion Lutheran church at Gunder at 2 o'clock with Dr. S. J. Strandjord officiating.

Burial was in the Marion cemetery at Gunder.

Mr. Halverson died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Sonstegard, Friday, July 20, following two years of failing health. The last six months he had been confined to his bed. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. He had suffered several strokes.

Erick G. Halverson was the son of Gulbrand and Margit Halverson. He was born Nov. 02, 1860, in Clayton county where he spent his entire life in Marion and Wagner townships with the exception of nine years in North Dakota.

On Jan. 16, 1893, he was married to Mary Knutson Wilson. They were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary two years ago.

He is survived by his widow and five children, Mathilda (Mrs. Henry Christianson); Selma (Mrs. Emil Sonstegard); Edwin and Melvin all of Elkader; and Roy of Elgin, Ia. and three step-children, Teelina (Mrs. Gilbert Nelson) of Osage, Ia.; Charley Wilson, of Elkader; and Henry Wilson of Rushford, Minn.

Surviving besides his wife and children is one sister, Mrs. Carrie Nelson of Gunder; thirty-two grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Elmer, also four sisters and one brother.

Mr. Halverson was a member of the Marion Lutheran church at Gunder.

Pallbearers were: Lyle Olson, Frank Wacker, Oscar Possehl, Ray Reierson, Henry Reierson and Harry Wold.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Gillord Thompson, Forest City, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Halver Braake, Lake Mills, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Nelson, Mrs. John Anderson, Mrs. Stanley Novak, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Martie, Mrs. George Anhorn and Ivanell Martie, all of Osage, Ia.; Mrs. Veston Martin of Calmar; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lofstven, Carrie Lofstven, Mr. and Mrs. Ingmar Hilberg, Walter and Charlotte; Milton Otteson, Kenneth Otteson, Swen Tollefson. Christine Tollefson, all of Decorah; Olavus Knutson, Orvin Knutson of Millville, Ia.; and Henry Wilson of Rushford, Minn.
