Funeral services for William Bruce Moon, who died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ruckdaschel, at Postville, July 18, at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 15 days, were held Saturday at the Farmersburg Methodist church.

Mr. Moon was born in Monona township, on 03, 1861, the son of Orville and Jane Moon. On Jan. 16, 1884 he was married to Miss Annie Henkes. After a few years in Monona township, the couple moved to a farm in Wagner township which was their home until they retired to Farmersburg in 1915.

Mr. Moon was prominent in a number of the county's civic and social activities. He was a director of the Clayton County Fair association for many years and was still holding that office at the time of his death. He was a trustee of the Gooding church, and as a director of the Gooding school was overseer of the new building when it was constructed.

Mr. Moon was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 16, 1941. A daughter, Jessie (Mrs. Alva Jones) who died Sept. 04, 1941, one brother, Harry, four sisters, Anna, Fannie, Clara and Mamie, a granddaughter, Viola Amundson, two grandsons, Harris Jones and Ira Carlton Moon, and one great-grandchild, Burdell Amundson.

His passing is mourned by six children, Mabel (Mrs. Joe Holly), Ira, Gus and Herb, all of Farmersburg, Leo of Bagley, Wis., and Flossie (Mrs. Fred Ruckdaschel), Postville, one brother, Frank Moon, of Mason City; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Three grandsons are in the armed forces: Pfc. Arno Jones, overseas; Pfc. Clifford Jones of Cochran Field, Ga.; and S 2,c Elmer Moon, in the South Pacific.

The Rev. R. D. Butler officiated at the funeral services. Burial was in the Goodin cemetery.

Pall bearers included: Helmuth Oelke, Albert Engelhardt, Ed Johnson, Otto Fuelling, Eaton Waters, Gilbert Meyer, Floyd Lau and Henry Buckman.
