Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon for Eli Dresden, 68, at the Pilkington funeral home. A commercial fisherman here on the Mississippi for many years, Dresden died at the University of Iowa hospital last Friday. The Rev. Paxton Smith officiated at the service.
Born August 16, 1887, at Bagley, Wis., Dresden moved to McGregor with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dresden, when he was a child. He was married in 1903 to Josephine Mueller at Kenosha, Wis., who preceded him in death in 1911. He was married again to Edna Hill, who survives him, with his three sons, Clarence of Keokuk, Eli, Jr., of LaGrange, Mo., and Ray of McGregor; a step-daughter, Mrs. Mildred Kile, McGregor; two sisters, Mrs. Mate Hill, McGregor, and Mrs. Louis Prenevost, Milwaukee, Wis.; and eight grandchildren.
