John Farrell of Eveningshade, Ark., died June 13 at the home of his sister, Julia Farrell of Elkader where he had been visiting. He had been ill for two weeks previously with a heart ailment.
John Farrell, the son of John and Bridget Duggan Farrell was born June 24, 1865, in Garnavillo. During the course of his life he also lived in Minnesota, Wisconsin and in Arkansas, where he made his home for the past 25 years. May 25, 1925, he married Mary J__e Higgins of Strawberry, Ark., who died in 1942.
Surviving him are two brothers: Edward Farrell, Volga City; and Frank Farrell, Elkader; and three sisters, Estella Farrell Eager, Mitchell, S.D.; Julia Farrell, Elkader; and Mrs. Mary Farrell Ecker, West Union.
He was buried at St. Joseph's cemetery with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiating. Pallbearers were Ray Barton, Harley Downey, Fred Kuehl, Wm. Ehrhardt, Mike Hurley, and Tom Garaghty.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Estelle Farrell Eager, Mitchell, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Conrey, Mason City; Cpl. Andrew Kozel, Dayton, Ohio; and Lucille Farrell Kozel, S.K. 3/c, Washington, D.C.
