Carl Herman Henry Klinkenberg, 71, died Monday morning at 2:55 o'clock, May 21, at the home of his son Alvin, on the fam on which he was born. He had been in failing health for the last eight years, suffering two strokes five years ago, from which he never fully recovered.
Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery, Monona.
He was the youngest and last living child of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Klinkenberg, being born in Farmersburg township, March 28, 1874. He was married to Bertha Kurth at Farmersburg June 14, 1901, by the Rev. Fred Braun.
With the exception of the last fifteen years, the Klinkenbergs lived on the homestead a few miles southeast of Farmersburg near the Mecklenburg school house, retiring to Monona.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Fred and Alvin of St. Olaf; four grand children; and one grand step-daughter. Three sisters and five brothers preceded him in death. Of his in-laws there remains but one, John Martin.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the home at 1:45 o'clock to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church at Monona, at 2 o'clock. Music was provided by Mrs. Clarence Neverman and Preston Carr with Mrs. George Heins, organist.
Pallbearers were: LeRoy Larson, Sheriff E. W. Carlsen, Ben Palas, Ben Schmidt, Chas. Ste+hl, Dale Hansel, Eric Aarvig and Herman Lenth.
