Cornwell, Evertt died 1945

Clayton County Register, 29 Mar. 1945.

Evertt Cornwell, 33, a laborer, was struck and killed by a north bound Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific train about a mile north of Buena Vista, at 1 o'clock Wednesday morning. He was on the way to his home three miles north of Buena Vista.

Sheriff E. W. Carlsen and Coroner E. W. Tuecke of Garnavillo were called to the scene. The coroner reported the death accidental, and no inquest was held. The badly mangled body was taken to the Beerman funeral home in Guttenberg.

Surviving are Mrs. Cornwell and seven children ranging in age from six months to 12 years.
