Funeral services for Mrs. Olive Eggen, 87, were held in the First Evangelical Lutheran church on Swede Ridge south of McGregor Sunday afternoon at 2:30. The service was in charge of the Rev. O. R. Haugstul with burial in the cemetery of the Norwegian Lutheran church.
Mrs. Eggen was born in Roros, Norway, March 06, 1858 and came to America with her parents who settled near McGregor in 1870. In 1874 she was married to Ole Eggen, who preceded her in death in 1928. Following their marriage they moved to a farm on Swede Ridge where Mrs. Eggen lived for 71 years.
She is survived by all of her eight children, Mrs. Emma Hudspeth, San Bernadino, Calif.; Edward Eggen, Chicago; Mrs. Merril Wilder, La Crosse, Wis.; Mrs. LaVant Leibrand, Portland, Ore.; Ernest Eggen, Martin Eggen, Mrs. Arthur Durr and Mrs. Arthur Hultgren, all of McGregor. Surviving also are 35 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.
