Funeral services for Thov H. Olson, 92, were held last Thursday at the Marion Lutheran church at Gunder. The Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiated and burial was in the nearby cemetery.
Mr. Olson was born February 25, 1853 on a farm near Gunder, south of Postville. When two years old, he lost his father by drowning and his mother died when he was four. He made his home with Helge and Turi Embretson Gronhood. He worked as a carpenter, served as township assessor for many years and was a notary public for over 50 years.
He was married to Sigri Mork on June 10, 1878. She died in 1933 and since then he has lived with his son, at whose home he died. He was the oldest resident of Marion township and was blind since 1939.
Surviving are his son, Ole E. Olson, five grandchildren, a sister-in-law and two nephews.
