Mr. August Fleck, eldest brother of the well-known merchants, Fleck Brothers, Guttenberg, died at his home in that town on Saturday last. He had ben a resident of Guttenberg for about 25 years, and their firm was to that place similar to the Kerndt firm of Lansing, known far and wide for its integrity and reliability.

A private letter received in this city last evening contained the sad intelligence of the death of Augustus Fleck, of Guttenburg, at 1 o'clock yesterday (Saturday) afternoon, of heart disease. Mr. Fleck was 50 years of age at the time of his death.
He was widely known throughout northern Iowa, having for more than twenty-five years kept a general merchandise store, besides carrying on a large mill, at Guttenburg, besides being connected with numerous other enterprises.
He was a quiet man, of much modest worth, and was highly esteemed. He was brother-in-law of Dr. Hoffbauer, of Dubuque. The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
