Masonic funeral services for Walter H. Eppens, Colesburg postmaster, were held at the Eppens home last Saturday with Dr. H. D. Brown of Elkader in charge of the services. Burial was made in Guttenberg. Mr. Eppens died at his home in Colesburg Friday, Nov. 17, after an illness of two weeks.
Mr. Eppens is survived by his wife, the former Lizzie Bush, one son, Sgt. John Otto of the Marines, somewhere in the Pacific; Mrs. Frank Warner of LaCrosse, Wis., and Mrs. Glen Gifford of Elkader. Two grandchildren, Nancy and Brian Gifford, also survive along with four sisters, Mrs. Carl Ihm and Miss Emma Eppens of Guttenberg, Mrs. R. D. White of Volga, and Mrs. Fred Fonda of St. Paul, Minn.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gifford and children, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Wolf, Dr. Brown, Everette Hagensick and Elmer Moser attended the funeral from here.
