Funeral services for F. M. Miles, 86, who died at his home in Littleport Thursday, Nov. 16, were held from the home Sunday afternoon Nov. 19, with the Rev. Paul Kitterer of the Friedens Evangelical church in Elkader officiating. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery. His death was due to the result of a fall he suffered the week before.
Mr. Miles was born at Castele, New York, Aug. 21, 1858, the son of Daniel and Harriett Miles. Sept. 27, 1883, at Elkader he was married to Miss Mary Bachtell. Nine cchildren were born to them.
Surviving him are two sons, Claude of Volga City, Valmah of Millidgeville, Ill.; six daughters, Hattie and Pearl Nading, both of Littleport; Edna Dunn of Strawberry Point; Florence Harkins of Oelwein; Gertrude DeBow of Fayette; and Margaret Smith of Charles City; also many grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Wesley Marshall.
