One of the well known farmers of the southern part of Clayton county, thomas Kelsh, died in Strawberry Point on Monday, April 30. He was born in Shane, Meath county, Ireland, in 1822 and emigrated to this country in 1844 settling in Pennsylvania.
He afterwards removed to Wisconsin where he resided until 1874 when he came to Iowa and has lived here since.
The deceased leaves a widow and seven children to mourn his loss, George of Dubuque; Michael, of Fort Madison; John of Lost Nation; Thomas and Mary of Strawberry Point; Eilen, of Miles City and Lizzie, wife of S.B. Sisson, of Masonville. A brother, Michael, of Rockwell, Cerro Gordo county, also survives, and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held at St. Mary's church in Strawberry Point on Thursday, May 3, at 1 o'clock.
