Fred C. W. Glawe, 76, died Sept. 14 at his home in Read township. He was in poor health for several months and Sept. 11 he suffered a stroke which caused is death. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Glawe and was born in Kuneo, Germany, Dec. 15, 1867. When he was five years old he came to America with his family and for five years the family lived in Buffalo, N.Y., after which they came west and settled in Read township. For the last 47 years he lived on the same farm where he died.
Mr. Glawe was married to Miss Lena Kruse, Feb. 05, 1892, and they had six children, of whom one daughter, Helma, died when two years old. His wife died Jan. 04, 1941, and two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Surviving are five children: Mrs. George Kahlbaum, Elkader; Fred, Jr., St. Olaf; Lawrence, Elkader; Elmer on the home place; Mrs. John Kluth, Farmersburg; one sister, Reka Kliefoth, and five brothers, George, Farmersburg; William, Henry, Edward and Louis of Elkader; also five grandchildren.
