Funeral services for Thomas Jerome Donohoe, 78, were held at St. Joseph's church here Monday, July 17, at 930 o'clock. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Mr. Donohoe died early Friday morning of a stroke in his home here. He had been in failing health for the past year.
Mr. Donohoe was born Feb. 17, 1866, in Read township, a son of the late Michael and Catherine Donohoe. May 09, 1905, he was married to Miss Agnes C. Fallon at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Garnavillo. They settled on a farm in Read township, where they lived until they moved to Elkader. His wife preceded him in death Dec. 26, 1931.
Mr. Donohoe was a member of St. Joseph's church and served as secretary of the church for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Irene Gertrude, at home, and two sisters, Miss Bridget Donohoe and Mrs. Mary Malary, both of Elkader. Preceding him in death besides his wife were a sister and a brother.
Pallbearers were M. H. McTaggart, William Orr, J. E. Walz, Harley Downey, M. J. Garaghty and Newell Kramer.
