STRAWBERRY POINT: Fredrick John Fenchel, 53, died at University hospital, Iowa City, Monday. He was born March 22, 1891, at Elkport, son of John and Christina Fenchel.
On Dec. 29, 1913, he was married to Gertrude Pilgrim of Edgewood. They made their home in Strawberry Point, where Mr. Frenchel was a painter and decorator.
Surviving are the widow, four sons, Lt. Burdine Fenchel and Cpl. Bruce Fenchel, both in the service in England, Fred, Jr., Naval Air Base, Clinton, Okla., Bernard of Strawberry Point, who will be in service soon, and a daughter, Gertrude, at home, a brother, Jacob, of Strawberry Point, a sister, Mrs. Lena Croyle of Greeley, and two grandsons. A son, Burdette, died in infancy.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. R. Park Anderson. Lucille Luse sang two numbers, accompanied by Mrs. Lloyd Kramer. Casket bearers were Bradley Hopper, Hans Baumgartner, Carl Buls, W. L. Peick, George Dunfrund and C. E. McCarron. Burial was here.
