Funeral services for Mrs. William F. C. Mueller, who died at her home near Clayton Center Monday, April 03, were held at Zion Lutheran church Thursday. The Rev. G. K. Mykland, pastor, had charge of the services. Burial was made in the Clayton Center cemetery. Pallbearers were Geo. Kelpien, Emil Best, Harvey Witte, Oscar Auer, Arthur Buckman and Arno Heuer.
Mrs. Mueller was the former Sophia Wilke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Wilke, and she was born Aug. 02, 1870, at Clayton Center. She grew to womanhood in the Clayton Center community and in January , 1891, she was married to George Thees and they had one child. Both her husband and child died in the winter of 1893.
March 20, 1894, she was married to Mr. Mueller. They established their home on a farm on which Mr. Mueller had already started farming and on which they spent more than 50 years together. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Alvin of this community and Harry on the home farm; two grandchildren, Glen and Lorna; three brothers, Henry of St. Olaf, Fred of Farmersburg and August of Elkader, and a sister, Mrs. H. W. Palas of Frontier, Manitoba, Canada.
Mrs. Mueller was a baptized and confirmed member of the Zion Lutheran church and a charter member of the Ladies Aid society and the Women's Missionary society.
