ST. OLAF: funeral services were held here Friday afternoon for Dewey Leroy Caney, who died in Chicago, March 21. The body arrived here from Chicago Friday morning and was taken to the home of his mother, Mrs. Wm. Carney, where funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 and at the Norway church at 2 o'clock with the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating. He was buried in the Norway cemetery beside his father, Wm. Carney.

Mr. Carney was born in St. Olaf, July 30, 1898, and was baptized in the Norway Lutheran church. He received his education in grade school at St. Olaf, high school at Fredericksburg, and Upper Iowa University at Fayette. The Carney family moved from St. Olaf to Fredericksburg in 1909, where they lived until 1929, When they moved to Chicago.

Mr. Carney married Orabelle Olmstead in Minneapolis, April 19, 1924, and they established their home in Chicago, where he was established in the construction business and later in the manufacture of roofing. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and president of his Consistory class. Masonic funeral services held in Chicago, Thursday, were attended by 800 persons.

Besides his wife, Mr. Carney is survived by his son, David William, 13; his mother; and a sister, Mrs. Maud Herrick of Wadsworth, Ill. His father and one sister, Mabel, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Floyd Orvis, Vernett Embretson, Aden Embretson, Roy Engelhardt, Alvin Larson, Elmer Wilke, Walde Embretson, Larando Embretson.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral of Dewey L. Carney Friday afternoon were: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Leach, Mrs. Ben Herrick and Mrs. Susie Moores of Fredericksburg; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Douglas and daughter of Postville; Mr. and Mrs. John Klunder of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Olmstead of Oaklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Herrick, Wadsworth, Ill.
