Funeral services for Hans Hanson, 74, who died here at the home of his niece, Mrs. Ralph Coons, Sunday, Feb. 13, following a lingering illness, were held from the Witt Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, and the Norway Lutheran church in Wagner township at 2 o'clock. Dr. S. J. Strandjord, pastor officiated. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Hanson was born in Norway Sept. 22, 1869. He came to America in 1892 and settled at Wadena, where he worked for many years.
He was married to Kari Ulberg and they lived on a farm west of St. Olaf for a number of years.
Following the death of his wife, he moved to St. Olaf where he remained with his wife's brother, Gilbert Ulberg, for a time. Later he came to Elkader and made his home with his niece, Mrs. Ralph Coons.
He is survived by two sisters in Norway, by several nieces and nephews, among them Mrs. Ralph Coons of Elkader, also three cousins, Thore Thompson of Wadena, and Steiner and Hulver Thompson of Elkader.
Pallbearers were: H. P. Larson, Andrew Wold, Ted Thorson, Thore Kirkjorden, Theo. Wold, and Leslie Halv_rson.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Harry Short, Cedar Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. Thore Thompson of Wadena.
