ST. OLAF: Leroy H. Larson died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 1944, at the hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wis., at the age of 45 years, six months and nine days.

He was the son of William and Hilda Larson, born at St. Olaf, July 16, 1898. He was baptized and confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church. He was married to Irene Gulsvig of Marion township, Aug. 30, 1922. For a number of years they made their home on the Larson farm at St. Olaf, later making their home at Marquette, where he was employed on the Star mail route.

He enlisted in the Army in August, 1942, and was given an honorable discharge in March. On returning home he was employed in a defense factory in Milwaukee, Wis., until his illness forced him to return to the home of his aunts, Lena and Emma Tovson, of Farmersburg.

He was a member of the St. Olaf American Legion Post.

His wife, his parents, and one daughter, preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, Lyle, who is stationed with the Marines somewhere in the South Pacific; three brothers, Alvin and Horace of St. Olaf and Pfc. Floyd Larson of San Antonio, Texas; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Norway Lutheran church Saturday Jan. 29, at 11 o'clock. The Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiated. The St. Olaf American Legion post conducted military services at the cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Engelhardt, Floyd Orvis, Elmer W_lke, Robert Hulverson, Vernett Embretson, and Glen Crane of Monona.
