Mrs. Rexie Bennett Chase passed away at her home in this city on last Friday morning, April 8, 1921, at 4:30 o'clock, after a several months illness with cancer, aged 55 years, 9 months and 2 days.

Mrs. Chase was born at Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, on July 6, 1865, as a daughter of Charles and Mary Bennett. On November 27, 1888, she was married to Mr. E.W. Chase at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. In the year 1894 she came to Guttenberg, Ia., with her husband to reside, where she lived until the Angel of Death called her to the Great Beyond.

For the past several months she had ben ill with a cancer, but during her entire illness she was a patient sufferer, having hopes of recovery until called to the other World, where there is no more suffering, but joy and happiness forever. All that loving hands and medical knowledge could do, was done for to ward off death, but all to no avail.

She was a true and faithful helpmate to her husband, who is successfully engaged in the photography business here.

Mrs. Chase was one of Guttenberg's most highly respected residents, being ever ready and willing to do for her neighbors and friends, as she would for herself, and therefore was a true Christian woman. In her death we lose a woman who did her share in making this world a better place in which to live in, and a world of sunshine.

She was a woman devoted to her home, and a true home maker in every respect, and was a lover of all that was good and true, and a large circle of friends of this community regret her passing.

She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. E.G. Mulliken, of Bellingham, Wash., five brothers, W.W. Bennett of Leona, Wis., G.M. Bennett of Kilbourne, Wis., F.C. Bennett of Cromwell, Minn., A.L. Bennett of Eggermount, Alberta, Canada, and Harvey Bennett, of Blue River, Wis.; besides many other relatives and she will be sadly missed by all.

Mrs. Chase was also a faithful and worthy member of the Eastern Star and Royal Neighbor Orders here, the members of both Orders attending the funeral in body.

Funeral services were held at her late home in this city on last Sunday afternoon, Rev. D.D. Welsh of the M.E. Church, conducting the services. The body was laid to rest in the City Cemetery. The Eastern Star Order conducted services at the cemetery.

The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near, which showed that deceased was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her.

Card of Thanks
I hereby wish to than all kind neighbors and friends, who showed me so much kindness during the illness and death of my beloved wife, Mrs. Rexie Bennett Chase. I also wish to thank the Eastern Star and Royal Neighbor Orders, Rev. Welch, the choir and for the many beautiful floral offerings.
E.W. Chase
