STRAWBERRY POINT: Lon E. Walters, 62, was found dead in his bed Sunday. For the past several months he had been employed in Waterloo and Independence, and it was at the latter place he was when he died.
He was the son of Harvey and Neoma Walters, born at Wadena, Iowa, Oct. 07, 1881. On Oct. 20, 1901, he was married to Ola Hale, who with the following children survive: Mrs. Rueben Harvey, Dallas, Ore.; Edwin Walters with the Coast Guard at New Orleans, La,; Mrs. Florence Arne, Warba, Minn.; Mrs. August Schael, Lawler; Raymond Walters, Rockford, Iowa; Sgt. Dean Walters, Nashville, Tenn.; Dale Walters, S 1/c, in care of Postmaster, New York, N.Y.; Pfc. Calvin Walters, with the army in Italy; and Ella Mae at home.; six grandchildren; five brothers, Ray in Salem, Ore.; Tom in Gable, Ore.; Oscar, Sandy, Ore.; Art in Tulare, Calif.; Lou in Hanna City, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Allen, Luana, Mrs. Pearl Weber in Michigan, and Mrs. Dorothy Weber of Oelwein.
Funeral services were held at the Gill funeral chapel Friday afternoon, with the Methodist pastor, Rev. R. Park Anderson, in charge.
