White - McCartan marriage - 1957

The marriage of Louis H. White, son of Col. and Mrs. L. L. White of Volga, and Joan McCartan, formerly of Harrisburg, Pa., took place Saturday, May 11, at Elkader. The Rev. Paul Kitterer, pastor of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, officiated in the church parsonage. W. W. Davidson of Elkader, a close friend of the White family, witnessed the ceremony.

The bride, a graduate nurse, has been employed in Long Beach, Calif., the past several months. Mr. White has been employed as a radio officer on U.S. merchant ships for several years.

Following a visit with the groom's parents, the new couple plan to drive to the west coast and establish their home in Long Beach.
