Miss Marguerite Ehrhardt became the bride of Laurence Berns in St. Joseph's church in Elkader Nov. 25. The Rev. B. H. Skahill officiated, and the Rev. Joseph Bohr, of Lamont, was in the Sanctuary. Daniel Berns, a brother of the groom, and Donald Scheffert served as alter boys. Miss Ehrhardt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ehrhardt, Elkader, Iowa, and Mr. Berns is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Berns, Lamont, Iowa. Miss Rose Ehrhardt, a sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, while Francis Berns served his brother as best man. Ushers were E. Michael Ehrhardt of Austin, Minn., brother of the bride, and Reid Dillon of Volga, uncle of the groom. Mrs. Gus Dillon of Volga, grandmother of the groom, was present.
Mrs. Berns is a graduate of St. Joseph's high school and attended Elkader junior college. After her graduation from the Waterloo school of Beauty Culture she operated the Hand's Beauty Shop, now the Marguerite Shop, for the past four years. Mr. Berns is a graduate of the Littleport high school. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a Staff Sgt. in the Fifteenth Air Force in Italy, where he was shot down and held a German prisoner for a couple months. He received his discharge of Feb. 04, 1946.
