GOHEEN, BURRESS

I have done some research on the Goheens, and someone else I have been in touch with is descended from one of Isabelle's brothers.
Isabelle's parents were James Wilson Goheen and Mary Ann Burress. I am descended from James's brother, Rufus. I don't know as much about the descendants of James, but I have been in touch with a couple of James's descendants who know more.
What I can tell you is that the Goheen and Burress families were among the earliest settlers of Coldwater Township in Butler County, IA, coming there in the early 1850s. James and Rufus were born in Virginia in the early 1830s but were raised in Fall Creek, Henry County, Indiana. Their parents were William "Billy" Goheen and Frances Nicely, both of Botetourt County in southwestern Virginia.
William Goheen's father was John Goheen, a blacksmith. John Goheen's father was in the Revolutionary War, and may have been named Lean Goheen. (I've been in touch with others who are researching our Goheen line to see if we can substantiate this; no one seems to have the name "Lean" but me, but several people have a note in their family tree that John's father died on his way home from the Revolutionary War.)
I know more, and you can feel free to email me if I've piqued your interest.
