Lawrence J. B. Aakre was born Sept. 18, 1914 to Endre and Elle Severson Aakre. He died Sept. 26, 2001 and is buried in Cedar Memorial Park, Cedar Rapids, IA. Lawrence served with the U.S. Army Headquarters Company, 23rd Infantry in World War II.

Adolph Tom Abraham was born July 25, 1919 to Simon J. and Anna F. Nassif Abraham. He died Dec. 31, 1943 and is buried in Saint George Orthodox Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA.

2nd Lt. Abraham served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 713th Bomb Squadron, 448th Bomb Group piloting B-24 Liberator #42-2948 and was KIA on a bombing mission over France.

Dean Wymer Anderson was born June 23, 1920 to James P. and Ina E. Pietzke Anderson. He died Aug. 23, 2008 and is buried in Walker Cemetery, Walker, IA.

Dean served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Roy Thomas Arensberg was born Mar. 3, 1920 to Rutherford and Emily Arensberg. He died May 3, 1945 and is buried in South Side Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA. He was initially buried in the Military Cemetery at Santa Barbara, a few miles inland from the Lingayen Gulf.

Pvt. Arensberg served in World War II with the U.S. Army and died of wounds received in action on Central Luzon, Philippines. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Samuel Markus Austin, Jr. was born Oct. 6, 1916 to Samuel M. (Sr.) and Emma Louise Lang Austin. He died July 6, 1943 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, IA.

Petty Officer Austin served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Helena (CL-50) when it was torpedoed and sunk during an engagement with enemy ships in the Kula Gulf in the Pacific area. He was MIA/FOD/KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.

Harry LeRoy Averill was born Nov. 13, 1923 to Harry Averill and Blanche Averill. He died Jan. 6, 1945 and was buried at sea and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manilla American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Averill served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and died in enemy action in the Asiatic Pacific area while serving his country. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
