A V-mail special letter titled, “Now I know what they mean—La-bor day, Sept. 4” and showing a Seabee very hot and busy with a heavy pick, was received by The TRIBUNE Wednesday from Huron T. Adams, WT 2/c.
“I am in Hawaii and I’ve seen Honolulu and Waikiki,” writes ‘Cookie’. “If I might leave a thought with you on Labor Day, it would be—Clean the enemy out of our unions as we are cleaning them out of the Pacific. Give the boys of the Local No. 55 my best regards.”
‘Cookie’ was secretary of School Maintenance Employees union No. 55 and custodian of Garfield school, when he enlisted in the Seabees.
